Remediation System Emissions Assessment

(Beaverton, OR)  Landau Associates completed a multi-phase human health risk assessment to support a site-wide remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) at a former manufacturing facility with chlorinated volatile organic compounds (VOC) impacts to soil and groundwater at and near the site. Our services included estimating health risks to reasonably likely human receptors (including occupational workers, excavation workers, offsite residents, and recreational swimmers) and calculating site-specific, risk-based cleanup levels for environmentally impacted media. The selected remedy for site remediation would result in two potential sources of ongoing VOC impacts to indoor air: venting from a groundwater treatment system and vapor intrusion from subsurface contamination. Landau Associates evaluated the potential impacts to air quality through air dispersion modeling, indoor and near-ventilation air sampling, and focused risk assessment, and implemented cost-effective measures to reduce potential air quality impacts to acceptable levels for existing and potential future buildings at and around the site.
