Lynnwood High School

(Lynnwood, WA)  Landau Associates provided geotechnical engineering and natural resources permitting services for the planning and design of Lynnwood High School in the Edmonds School District. The school was developed on a 40 acre site and provides 214,000 square feet of multi-floor classroom area, gymnasium, music and performing arts building, playfields, parking, and related support facilities. The scope of geotechnical engineering services was structured to support the design team during the schematic and early design phases of the project as well as during final design and preparation of plans and specifications. Preliminary geotechnical services included recommendations for earthwork; foundation design; slabs; subsurface drainage and infiltration; retaining walls and paved areas. Design-phase services included geotechnical design criteria and recommendations specific to the final design requirements of the facility. We also provided monitoring and testing during the construction phase of the project.

The project was awarded the James D. McConnell Award for excellence in educational facility planning.
