Indian Point Property Investigation and Cleanup Action
(Port Townsend, WA) Landau Associates provided environmental and permitting services to Heron’s Nest Properties LLC to support proposed commercial and residential development at the Indian Point property located on Water Street adjacent to Port Townsend Bay in Port Townsend, Washington. Historical information indicates that the property was previously used for various industrial purposes including a packing company, lumber business, and a petroleum storage and distribution facility. Bulk petroleum storage and distribution activities were conducted at the property from about 1929 until the late 1970s.
Landau Associates provided technical and regulatory support during cleanup cost negotiations with the previous site owner/operator who shared in the cleanup costs, and conducted remedial investigations and remedial design, and cleanup to address soil and shallow groundwater impacts from the historical bulk petroleum storage and distribution operations on the property, and to allow for site development. The cleanup was conducted as an independent remedial action under the Washington State Department of Ecology voluntary cleanup program. We also provided geotechnical engineering services and preliminary foundation design for the proposed site development, and supported permitting and SEPA review through the City of Port Townsend.
