Canola Oil Extraction Plant Air Quality Permitting

(Warden, WA)  Landau Associates prepared air emissions inventories for multiple iterations of a proposed canola oil extraction plant design. Emissions inventories were the basis for recommending air pollution control equipment and design modifications to reduce air emissions. Air emissions sources were evaluated in the context of applicable federal and state regulations to recommend the appropriate pathway for permitting the facility. Ambient air impacts were modeled to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations, and two air permit applications (Notices of Construction) were prepared and filed on behalf of the facility owner— the first reflecting only biodiesel production, and the second allowing for production of food-grade canola oil as an initial product; both permits were issued by the Washington State Department of Ecology. We also completed environmental due diligence at the plant property prior to purchase.
