WSDOT (HDR) - SR 520 Pontoon Construction Alternate Sites
Landau Associates was part of a team evaluating geotechnical alternatives for a proposed 12-acre marine facility for pontoon construction for the proposed new SR 520 floating bridge across Lake Washington. Landau Associated has completed a geotechnical and hydrogeologic study for the project. The geotechnical engineering analyses included recommendations for steel and timber piles, settlements analyses, assessment of seismic loading and impact on the proposed facility, temporary and permanent dewatering assessment, lateral earth pressure recommendations, and slope stability. Due to the complex interaction between the soils and the proposed facility, the seismic loading, including liquefaction and lateral spreading, was assessed using state-of-art numerical analyses (FLAC).
