IMG 0131 adjOn Saturday, March 5, Landau Associates volunteers spent their morning sorting through and performing quality control (we call this QA/QC) for thousands of pounds of fresh oranges at Food Lifeline in Shoreline, Washington. Together, with members of the community and friends at Puget Sound Energy, we repacked 20,890 pounds of oranges and canned goods that will provide over 17,408 meals to be distributed to food banks throughout Western Washington. With help from local businesses and the community, Food Lifeline is able to quickly sort, pack, and distribute food donations, supplying 30 percent of meals served by local food programs.

Founded in 1979, Food Lifeline is recognized for their innovative programs, such as Grocery Rescue, Seattle’s Table, and Mobile Food Pantry which are finding new and sustainable ways to redirect surplus food to people in need.
