Landau Associates Takes City of Edmonds Green Business Pledge

The City of Edmonds recognized Landau Associates for its commitment to green business practices and pledge to participate in the City’s Edmonds Green Business program. Businesses participating in the program pledge to conserve energy, water, materials and other resources, develop and implement practices that minimize pollution and waste, strive for continuous improvement in these areas, and serve as role models for positive environmental impact.

Second Annual Benefit Golf Tournament Raises Over $27,000

On behalf of Take a Swing Against Hunger, we would like to extend a most sincere thank you to our colleagues and friends who participated in the Second Annual Take a Swing Against Hunger Benefit Golf Tournament on July 25, 2014 and who gave generously to a worthy cause – Northwest Harvest. Fifty northwest environmental firms – consultants, attorneys, contractors, and vendors – including 130 golfers and volunteers, helped raise $27,000. All proceeds will go to support Northwest Harvest’s mission of providing ample nutritious food to hungry people in Washington. Take a Swing Against Hunger’s donation will help in providing more than 123,000 meals for those in need throughout our Washington State communities.

'Tis the Season for South Sound Giving

tis the season for south sound giving2Landau Associates’ Tacoma and Olympia office staff were “Secret Santas” to an underprivileged family of seven near Tacoma this holiday season. Jennifer Wynkoop, Landau Associates board member and environmental scientist in the Tacoma office, said “We have had a toy drive in the past, but this year we decided to do something a little more personal and adopt a needy family near Tacoma. My husband is a teacher, which is how we got hooked up with the program. The families are identified by the school counselors, and then the school tries to find community partners to help fulfill basic needs and also provide some fun stuff. We were able to purchase everything on their list. Almost everyone participated in some way, their generosity was really amazing.”

Hank Landau Shares “Misadventures of a Cross Country Kayaker”

Landau Associates founder Hank Landau, PE gave lunch hour presentations to staff in our Edmonds and Tacoma offices on his recently completed, multi-year kayaking expedition. In 2008, Hank started paddling upstream on the Columbia River hoping to make it from the Pacific Ocean to Bonneville Dam. At some point during his expedition, he decided to follow Lewis and Clark's return route to St. Louis.

From Intern to New Hire: Rachel Morgan Joins Landau Associates

Rachel Morgan3Rachel Morgan, EIT, has joined our Tacoma office as a staff environmental engineer. Rachel started with Landau Associates as an intern in June 2013 after completing her BS in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University in California. Her areas of expertise include water quality, water resources, and hydrology. She is looking forward to supporting Landau Associates stormwater, water resources, and remediation projects.
